Dates/ Partners

Chandler breaks up with Janice in episode 1.5, at the same time that Phoebe is breaking up with her boyfriend Tony. It's an odd sort of breakup, as not only does Chandler poke her in the eye because he's had about ten cups of coffee, but they go out again many more times in other episodes. In episode 1.10 Chandler can't bear the thought of having no-one to kiss on New Year's Eve so phones Janice. Janice thinks this means they're getting back together. It doesn't. After this second breakup Janice is pretty sick of Chandler but when Joey gets Chandler to accompany him on a Valentine's day date in episode 1.14 Joey's date's friend for Chandler turms out to be Janice. They sit not talking to each other until Joey leaves with his date Lorraine to play food games and leaves his credit card as consolation for deserting Chandler. They end up in bed after many bottles of wine, and when Chandler tries to break up with her again she says that they belong together and that he loves her although he doesn't know it. Chandler is confused. In episode 2.3 Chandler is so worried that he'll end up alone like Mr Heckles that he calls Janice, who is now married and pregnant, but meets him without telling him on the phone just to laugh at his expression. In episode 2.24 Chandler falls in love with a woman over the Internet who turns out to be Janice.

  • Aurora -episode 1.6
Chandler sees Aurora across a room at Joey's ludicrous Sigmund Freud play and asks her out. They go out, even though he finds out she has a husband and several boyfriends. At first he thinks this is a good setup but as time goes on he wants to spend more time with her and she doesn't want to give up her other men, so they split up.
Chandler is promoted to Data Supervisor in episode 1.16 and then has to fire Nina, but he is attracted to her and asks her out instead, then invents a ludicrous story for his boss, to explain what she's still doing there. She finds out of course and staples his hand to the desk.
Chandler doesn't want to call Danielle after going out with her, as he doesn't want to seem desperate and needy. He eventually calls her and leaves a message on her answering machine. She doesn't reply so after much cajoling from Monica he phones again and pretends that he had turned his phone off if she had been trying to call. She says she'll call him back, and he then actually does turn his phone off, and she has the wrong number anyway. She comes to Central Perk, and he thinks that she seems too needy.
Jade dials a wrong number wanting Bob, but gets Chandler, who pretends to be Bob, arranges to meet her and then starts chatting her up as a stranger who's noticed she's been stood up. They have sex, and Chandler thinks he was great and that she was biting her lip to keep from calling his name, but in fact she was doing it to keep from calling Bob's name.
Chandler thinks he's got lucky when Susie, who he doesn't remember from school, asks him out, and is all over him. She gets him to wear her panties, then takes him into a restaurant washroom for sex, and strips him down to only the panties, then sneaks off with his clothes, in revenge for Chandler's having lifted her skirt during a school play. (If you think they're going it a bit, the actors were actually dating at the time).
