Watching Spanish midgets wrestling makes Ross think of Julie, who is in New Mexico. A woman phones Chandler and Joey's flat wanting Bob and Chandler quickly pretends to be him when she sounds attractive, and arranges to meet her. Chandler wants $62 from everyone towards the present, concert and cake for Ross's birthday, but Joey, Rachel and Phoebe have no money, and resent the others for not realising and for always wanting to go 'somewhere nice' for everything. Monica is promoted to head lunch chef and head of purchasing. Chandler goes to Central Park and talks to the girl (Jade) who is waiting for Bob. At the dinner to celebrate Monica's job Joey Rachel and Phoebe order the absolute minimum they can, and are upset when Ross divides the total bill by six. They then reluctantly bring up the whole 'we don't earn as much as the you' matter, and Ross says he doesn't want his birthday to be the source of any conflict. Monica is given five steaks at work and gets an eggplant for Phoebe, and Chandler, Ross and Monica have bought six tickets for Hootie and the Blowfish for Ross's birthday, but the others don't want to go, because it feels like charity. Chandler is euphoric having had sex with Jade, and thinks it was great for her too, but then she phones the flat again and tells 'Bob' just what is was like. Ross, Monica and Chandler are at the concert, which they almost leave because it feels strange without the others (who are languishing at home). After the concert Monica bumps into Steven Fishman, who she used to babysit, but is now grown up and a lawyer for the band. He invites them backstage, and next day in Central Perk they admit to partying with Hootie and the Blowfish and Monica even has a lovebite. Rachel, Phoebe and Joey are not happy to have been sitting doing nothing while this was going on, and a big argument starts. But all differences are forgotten when Monica has a phone call and finds she has been fired for accepting gifts (the steaks) from clients.
end credits Joey is alone in the flat when Jade phones 'Bob' again.
