Phoebe is about to perform in Central Perk when there's a blackout over the whole of Manhattan. Chandler is stuck in an ATM vestibule with the model Jill Goodacre. Back at the flat, the others are talking about the weirdest place they've had sex. Rachel says she's never had the sort of passionate relationship when she had to have sex right there and then. Ross tells her he sees passion in her future, and Joey convinces Ross that now is the time to ask Rachel out, with the candles and moonlight etc. They go out on the balcony and a cat jumps on Ross's back just as he was about to ask her. Rachel and Phoebe go looking for the cat's owner. Mr Heckles claims it's his, but it actually belongs to Paolo, an attractive Italian guy.
At the bank Chandler tries to impress Jill by blowing gum, but manages to choke himself. This at least breaks the ice as she then helps him and they have some fun playing with the pens. Rachel takes Paolo back up to the flat, and Ross becomes very jealous of him, especially when the lights come back on and Rachel is kissing Paolo.
