While watching the Business Channel, Monica sees a stock that has her initials, MEG. Phoebe keeps seeing signs to go and see her father. Chandler and Ross encounter two men in Central Perk who say they're in their seats. One of them steals Chandler's cap. Monica has a job interview but doesn't want the job, as it involves working in a tacky 50s restaurant and wearing fake breasts. The MEG stock is rising, and Monica decides to invest in it, despite knowing nothing about stocks and shares. Phoebe drives to her dad's house with Joey and Rachel and gets attacked by a vicious little dog. Meanwhile Ross tells Gunther about the bullies and they get told off. Phoebe, Joey and Rachel are trapped in the car. Phoebe won't go in, although the dog seems to have gone, because she thinks it's a bad sign. When they leave, she inadvertently runs over the dog. Back at the flat, Monica is totally engrossed in the market, and becoming quite emotional about it on the phone. Phoebe returns from the vet with the dog, but doesn't want her first conversation with her father to be about her having run over his dog, so Joey puts on a comic voice and phones instead. Chandler and Ross, scared of the bullies, who have told them never to set foot in Central Perk again, are having coffee in Chandler's flat. Joey offers to go with them to protect them but Ross wants to confront the bullies himself, despite having never fought anyone except Monica. Monica's investment success has come to an end, and she is forced to take the restaurant job. Phoebe returns the dog to her father's house, and asks the woman who answers the door if Frank is there. Frank Sr, her father, left 4 years ago, but she finds out from Frank Jr, her half-brother, that he liked stilts. Ross and Chandler confront the bullies, and they prepare to fight, but by the time they've agreed to no keys, no watches, no metallic items, no facial blows and no hitting below the waist someone has stolen the hat containing said keys etc. After chasing the thief and recovering the items, they are all now friends, but Chandler still can't have his hat back.
end credits: everyone makes fun of Monica at the restaurant.
