Joey buys leather chairs and a huge TV, both of which greatly please Chandler. Rachel forgets she has to waitress with Monica so Phoebe does it instead, letting Rachel go on her first date with Ross. Monica and Phoebe are enamoured by their client Dr Richard Burke (an ophthalmic optician), a friend of Jack Geller who had been expecting Monica to be enormous. Joey and Chandler do not want to move from the comfort of their chairs for anything. Ross and Rachel get back from the cinema, and Ross is upset when putting his hands on her makes Rachel laugh. Monica has swiftly arranged an eye examination to see Richard again. After looking into her eyes and giving her some drops in an attempt to stop her leaving, he kisses her. Phoebe tries to get Chandler and Joey to stop watching TV but she's soon glued to it as well. That evening Monica has a date with Richard, despite Ross's reaction to their relationship, and Rachel wants to have a special evening with Ross to make up for the laughing. She suggests a candlelit dinner in which she is the dessert, but the museum phones for Ross and he has to go there to sort out a display. Monica and Richard almost decide to split up because of the age gap (21 years) but in the end they like each other too much. Ross takes Rachel to the museum, and after a remarkable light show, he takes her in the museum. They wake up in each others arms but they're not alone..
end credits: Even a fire in the building won't separate Chandler and Joey from their chairs.
