James Michael Tyler as Gunther
Rachel's birthday is approaching, and everyone wants to keep the party simple, except Monica, who wants to set up committees to organize it, and to make a flan instead of a cake. Joey is against inviting some of Rachel's friends, on the grounds that "they steal". Rachel returns from her sister's graduation angry with her parents (who are getting divorced) for ruining it with their fighting, and the others decide to have two parties, to keep Rachel's parents apart and avoid upsetting her. Rachel's father Leonard arrives at her flat while balloons and candles are being put up, and is shepherded into Joey and Chandler's flat, having being told that Rachel's and Monica's flat is merely the staging area. Sandra Green arrives, and as more guests arrive they are split between the two parties. Chandler and Joey try to take all the girls. Ross and Rachel get back, and Rachel is surprised twice. Chandler is happy because a girl stuck her tongue down his throat. Meanwhile Ross talks to Dr Green. Monica's party is utterly boring. Ross gets Leonard a scotch from Rachel's flat, and pretends it's for him when he bumps into Sandra. Phoebe helps Gunther and a few others escape Monica's party. Ross gets Leonard's cigarettes and glasses from Rachel's flat, and again pretends they're his when Sandra sees him. Sandra thinks Rachel is dating someone who's just like her father. Ross walks into Leonard while still wearing the glasses. Monica sees a lot of her guests having a good time at Chandler and Joey's party. Rachel moves between the two parties and her parents bitch at her about each other. Afterwards she talks to Chandler, who's parents divorced years before. He reminisces about the 4th July, when his family would go out on a boat and forget all their differences. As Sandra and Leonard leave Joey kisses Sandra in a desparate attempt to keep them apart.
end credits: Rachel's birthday wish involving her flan and a football comes true.
