Roxette are the incredibly successful Swedish pop duo Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle. The combination of Per's songwriting and Marie's voice has given them countless chart hits. And they make really good CD books too.

History

Per was born on January 12 1959 in Halmstad, a town on the west coast of Sweden. He is a Beatles fan and was a member of the Swedish band Gyllene Tider until 1984 when the band split up. Marie was born on May 29 1958 and before Roxette were formed was one of Sweden's premier songwriters/performers, having sold 300,000 copies of 3 solo albums. Per and Marie were introduced by ex-Abba management in 1984, and in 1985 Roxette was formed. The name comes from that of a Dr. Feelgood song.
Roxette's first album, Pearls of Passion, was recorded at Per's studio in Halmstad and was only released in Sweden. The next album, Look Sharp, went platinum in Sweden and was a hit all over the world after the success of the single "The Look". Since then Roxette have had a string of hits, many of which were recently released on a "greatest hits" album.
