Sydney

Sydney is probably the most beautiful city I've been to yet. It has the best harbour and some of the best beaches in the world.

Farscape is made in Sydney. The Matrix was filmed there, and The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (partly) and Moulin Rouge were filmed there also.

Well known Sydneysiders:

All sorts of lovely people were born in Sydney, like Claudia Black, Virginia Hey and Clive James. Cate Blanchett has performed on stage there regularly.
Guy Gross, who wrote the music for Priscilla and Farscape, is based in Sydney.
Nicole Kidman was brought up in Sydney, and Russell Crowe lives on a ranch outside Sydney. Guy Pearce emigrated to Australia early on in his life.

Fantastic things to do in Sydney:

• Harbour (Circular Quay)- read a book on the ferry to Manly, or follow the writer's walk to the Opera House. Or ride on a jet-boat
• Harbour Bridge- Rollerblade or walk across, then go up the South Pylon lookout. Or do Bridgeclimb if you're feeling more extravagant.
• Manly Beach- great bookshops, and I also like the Magpie cafe which has very nice smoothies
• Coastal Walk (Bondi to Coogee through Bronte)
• Centennial Park / Fox Studios - excellent for rollerblading
• AMP Tower
• Watsons Bay - great views of the city across the water
• Ferry to Homebush Bay, Olympic Park- cruise up the Parramatta river to the home of Farscape
• the Priscilla trail - Imperial Hotel and Planet Hollywood.
• Katoomba (in the Blue Mountains)

• Read books - Sydney has many fantastic bookshops, on Pitt Street, in Manly and in Newtown. Of course it is also blessed with good weather and there are many great places to read, like Coogee beach or Circular Quay. Many may argue that Australia is a long way to go just to read a book, but I choose to ignore their petty quibbles. There are also many great magazines published in Sydney, most of which have Cate Blanchett on the cover.

One things that's great about Australians is that they really love outdoor activities.
I love to walk, run, cycle, rollerblade, and swim when I'm in Sydney. The Olympic centre is excellent for swimming, I also like the Bronte Baths.

The most fantastic drinks are available in Sydney- I cannot drink enough fruit juice, milk shakes, and smoothies.
