Crimes

• Try not to commit too many. There is a problem here because what constitutes a crime differs from country to country. Why is crime prevalent in our societies?
  • too much spare time (unemployment, lack of entertainment)
  • materialism, greed (effect of advertising)
  • lack of education, recession
  • lack of respect for people's lives and belongings (effect of TV: violence shown, time spent watching should be spent communicating)
  • ineffectual justice system (not much of a deterrent)
  • drugs (needing to steal money for, under the influence of)
  • upbringing, environment, friends (trying to fit in, impress others)

It is impossible for everyone to be happy, and indeed crime, violence and "bad people" must exist partly to give self-righteous people someone to point their finger at to avoid facing their own hypocrisy, and partly because without bad people, the words good and worthwhile lose their meaning as such people have no-one to compare themselves against.
